Our Company Values

Torque Enterprises was started by directors John Watkins, Bevan Garioch and Dan Carter in 2012 when they recognised they could be the solution to a significant gap in the market—to design, manufacture, sell, repower and service state-of-the-art underground machinery and equipment with minimal outsourcing.

The directors have amassed a carefully selected and skilled workforce, with fifteen of their initially small team of employees (now nearly 90 strong) expecting to reach their ten years of service milestone in 2024.

Torque Enterprises is proud to support local communities by making meaningful contributions through numerous sporting club grants and sponsorships, school based work experience placements, apprenticeship placements and apprenticeship exchange programs.

Bevan Garioch

Bevan Garioch

Director

Bevan’s remarkable career in engineering began in 1980 where his ambition and initiative saw him rise quickly through the ranks and establish himself as a front-running tradesman and leader. Bevan’s entrepreneurial acumen and compelling drive for success in the industry lead him to co-found Juganaut Industries and produce the well-renowned JUG-A-0 Underground LHD an accomplishment that gave rise to the acquisition of Juganaut by a Global Manufacturing Company.

Bevan’s skills in design, critical thinking, and the proven ability to conceptualise, evaluate, and then bring to life his projects have been a powerful instrument in the rise of Torque Enterprises. A highlight in Bevan’s career has been designing and manufacturing the range of Torque Titan LHDs and looks forward to 100 engines packages sold and over 50 machines expected to be in operation by the end of 2022.

Bevan has secured service, supply, and sale contracts with global mining corporations and still finds the most rewarding part of the job is watching a machine being loaded for delivery, with the satisfaction that another Torque project has been taken from concept to completion.

Daniel Carter

Daniel Carter

Director

Dan started his career as an apprentice boilermaker with a local engineering company in Mackay, and now leads Torque’s Fabrication Division with an impressive 25 years of industry knowledge and experience underpinning his success. Dan’s key areas of expertise are in design, manufacturing and project management, but he still takes every opportunity to get on the tools with the team.

Dan’s commitment and dedication shows readily and he passes these formidable qualities onto his team, with 4 employees nearing (or already) reaching their 10 years of service with Torque Enterprises. Attending AIMEX in 2019 has been a highlight in Dan’s career; taking the opportunity to showcase Torque Enterprises at one of the most influential and successful mining trade shows in the world, and solidifying Torque’s reputation as a pioneering and home-grown Company that keeps up with the global market.

Dan enjoys the diversity of the Fabrication Division and doesn’t put limits on his teams capabilities, saying “our strength lies in seeing what doesn’t exist yet, and bringing those visionsto life”.

John Watkins

John Watkins

Director

John’s diverse career within the fields of diesel engine systems, superchargers, and custom equipment design spans 40 years, two continents and numerous industrial sectors and has earned him the warranted reputation as a progressive and accomplished businessman. John’s commitment to advancing the strategic interests of Torque Enterprise’s customers and product consumers has seen the locally grown Company scale the national market by providing an exceptional and competitive end-to-end service that reduces the delays and costs associated with multi-vendor projects.

The legendary Torque Enterprises Explosion Protected Diesel Engine System is undoubtedly one of John’s most prominent achievements, the upshot of investing in advancement and spending countless hours undertaking research and development; an interest still actively pursued by John when he has the opportunity.

John says of the engine package, “we needed to make something better than what was available on the market, something we would be proud to put our name on”, and the result was a product that now leads the market in reduced diesel exhaust emissions, increased productivity and reduced running costs. John would like to change this statement.
